Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains one of the most critical challenges facing women and girls in Zimbabwe today—especially in rural areas where access to support systems is limited, and stigma runs deep.
At No More Tears Zimbabwe, we believe that every woman and girl deserves to live free from fear, violence, and silence. Through our dedicated GBV response initiatives, we are reaching the most vulnerable with life-changing support, while also reshaping community attitudes for a future of equality and respect.
A Community-Centered Approach to GBV
Our approach begins at the grassroots. We work directly with traditional leaders, women’s groups, youth, and men to raise awareness about GBV, identify risk zones, and establish Zero-Tolerance Zones—safe spaces where violence is not ignored, but confronted.
We also train community watch groups to detect abuse early, intervene where safe, and refer cases through proper channels. These community-led structures form the backbone of our prevention and response model.
Supporting Survivors with Dignity and Care
Healing after abuse takes more than courage—it requires support, trust, and access to essential services. That’s why our programs offer:
- Trauma counselling and psychosocial support
- Safe referrals to health and legal services
- Emergency maternal care for survivors
- Economic empowerment initiatives for long-term independence
For women who feel voiceless, our teams are there to listen and act—confidentially and compassionately.
Innovation for Safer Reporting
We’re proud to be piloting a secure digital GBV reporting system, enabling survivors to report incidents discreetly via mobile phone or partner centers. This tool ensures faster referrals and a better chance of early intervention—especially in remote villages where formal systems are often slow or absent.
Changing the Narrative
Ending GBV means confronting the deep-rooted norms that perpetuate it. Our community workshops engage boys and men as allies, promote positive masculinity, and challenge harmful beliefs that normalize violence.
It’s not just about ending abuse. It’s about building a culture of mutual respect and ensuring that no one is left behind.
