Emergency Relief

Thematic Area 6: Emergency Relief

In times of crisis, vulnerability deepens. Rural communities in Mashonaland Central are increasingly affected by climate shocks, economic instability, pandemics, and localized conflicts that leave families without food, shelter, or protection. No More Tears Zimbabwe delivers timely and targeted Emergency Relief to cushion vulnerable households from further harm and accelerate recovery.

Our Emergency Relief interventions are designed to bridge humanitarian support with long-term resilience. We focus on:

  • Food assistance for child-headed households, elderly caregivers, and displaced families

  • Emergency hygiene kits (including soap, menstrual products, diapers, and water purification tablets)

  • Non-food items such as blankets, clothing, and shelter materials

  • Psychosocial First Aid (PFA) for children and caregivers in distress

  • Rapid needs assessments in coordination with traditional leaders and district disaster committees

  • Support for school continuity (e.g., emergency stationery kits, mobile learning tools) during disruptions

We also respond to gendered emergencies, such as:

  • Post-violence relocation support for GBV survivors

  • Re-integration packages for rescued child brides or trafficking victims

Our interventions align with Zimbabwe’s Civil Protection Policy and are guided by international humanitarian standards, including the Sphere Handbook and Core Humanitarian Principles.

Though not a traditional relief agency, we believe that in times of emergency, no one should be forgotten. Our presence in the community enables us to reach the hardest-hit households quickly — with compassion, respect, and purpose.
